Summer Lingerie Part 3 - Evie la Luve Old Favourites - Rosie and Esme

So for the third make I wanted to use the lace I had in my stash to a make a pretty feminine set. The Esme is a very flattering fit and started my obsession with Evie la Luve patterns. It came in a deal with the Bella and is the first lingerie pattern I bought after taking the Beverly Johnson Craftsy classes. I am capable of drafting my own patterns but I do enjoy testing what is out there. I wanted to team up with a softer lace bralette so I went back to the Rosie which I have only made for my sister and thought would try for myself.

Summer Lingerie Part 1 - Watson and Binky Perfect Partners

A lot of the designers I follow use Spoonflower designs so I thought I would test some of the fabrics out. My first purchase included some beautiful watercolour cotton spandex jersey designed by Crystal Walen with the lovely title of Mystical Floral. The thought was to make a collection of wireless bras or bralettes for those hot summer days and obviously some coordinating bottoms.

Even More Evie la Luve - The Mimi Bikini Practice

A little rushed last year I thought year I would give myself time to make the perfect swimwear.  I had a big success with the Jalie 3350 but ran out of time for a bikini. On a run with Evie la Luve patterns and a 20% off offer I decided to give the Mimi Bikini a go. The description on the website is "The Mimi Bikini is a gorgeous cut combining a simple silhouette with a twist. You can be sure this bikini will stay in place with the two straps at the back and good coverage at the front!"

More Evie La Luve - Darcey and Binky Perfect Partners

Having made one version of the Binky I was eager to try more, especially a mesh version and match with the Darcey Bra. Along came a 20% PDF weekend and whilst I deliberated which patterns I wanted/needed I came across some great lace and fold over elastic. It took such a long time to decide which colour to use. In the end I went with the peach purely down to the fact I didn't think any of my FOE went with the deep coral.

Madalynne Simplicity X 8624 and Orange Lingerie Kingston Thong

As there is a beautifully photographed 3 day sew along on the blog this is a short post on the Madalynne X Simplicity 8624 pattern and the white and yellow bra kit. As an an alternative to making the Orange Lingerie Montgomery brief, as I always do when I have a small amount of lace, I tried the Kingston thong.

Emerald Erin Pattern Release

I first came across Emerald Erin when I started making lingerie last year. Sourcing supplies was difficult from here in the UK so I spread the net and tried out a whole range of fabrics and findings for both lingerie and swimwear from her shop. I was hooked! So when she released her first patterns I wanted to be one of the first to make.

Good job it was cold and wet all weekend!

Sewing Round Up

Been rather busy with actual work so not much on the sewing front. A colleague had a baby so I got to try out Blank Slate Patterns Snuggle PJs. A good size range from 3m to 12y. The organic cotton panda fabric is perfect. I didn't have to make any binding as I had the black jersey bias the right width and weight of fabric. The bottoms are quilting cotton I chose as it had just a hint of pink

More Lingerie

Deciding what to do next became more of a problem over Christmas as the arrival of the Cricut Maker and the Sizzix Big Shot brought even more possibilities. So many new skills to learn. I was quite glad when the kit I bought on discount arrived from Costura Secret shop. Instagram is great for promotion alerts.

Kelly Anorak - Making Up

Finally got to start sewing today. Out of sequence with the pattern I did the lining bits first as I had the blue cotton in the machine. I also thought I would see how well the hood and sleeves went together before sewing the waxed cotton. The walking foot came out for the understitching as I had a lot of bulk especially on the back pleat. Fitted together pretty well.

Kelly Anorak - Preparation

Inspired by Lauren Guthrie's version of the Kelly Anorak I bought the PDF version as well as the lining expansion pack in the Black Friday sale. A fortuitous trip to Birmingham that day I was able to source all the supplies I needed to complete from Guthrie and Ghani. The fabric is a Millerain waxed cotton and I chose an Atelier Brunette cotton lawn which picked up the gold. I did buy quite a few other things but that is another day.

Now let's make a corset - Part 1!

This is just so exciting. I am a big fan of Craftsy and their deals have taken me off in so many directions. It all began with the Beverly Johnson "Sewing Bras: Construction and Fit". This is a must if you are considering bra making. I soon had the rest of her courses, taking in some formal tailoring, pattern drafting with Suzy Furrer along the way, all interspersed with embroidery classes and whatever came on offer that took my fancy. At this point I should say that I finish all projects I start but some start dates are put back as something new grabs my attention. So this is my latest "I have got to try this"
